Safety & Health Department

  • The satisfaction survey period for the 2025 employee physical check-up is from May 10 to June 18, 2025. The survey targets are 44 sections in the first and second levels of the Company. The coverage rate includes all employees. The frequency of satisfaction surveys is irregular, depending on the implementation of the current year's physical check-up.
  • The 2025 Employee Physical Check-up Satisfaction Survey showed all indicators above 90%, with the highest nearing 94%, indicating this year's physical check-up met the needs of most employees. However, satisfaction with the physical check-up process and the physician consultation fell below 91%. This is likely due to the number of examinees exceeding the capacity of each checkpoint within a short time. For next year’s physical check-up, we plan to proactively communicate to all departments that the physician consultation aims to understand participants’ past medical history, current symptoms, lifestyle habits, and family medical history to help evaluate potential disease risks and provide personalized health recommendations. We hope to correct the misunderstanding that physician consultation is the final step in the physical check-up process to enable flexible adjustments to the number of participants at each point, thereby reducing waiting times.

Measures Taken by our company concerning risks or opportunities in the community

  • Air Pollution Control Management
The Company has already been using natural gas as fuel in our manufacturing processes. In addition, we actively maintain and service our production equipment during production downtimes. Moreover, our pollution control equipment undergoes regular replacement of consumables, and we have strengthened measures to prevent fugitive emissions. As a result, air pollution emissions have been significantly reduced compared to the past, and there is no negative impact on the local community environment.
  • Waste Management
The Company manages the industrial waste generated during production based on its characteristics. We regularly monitor, analyze, and effectively control the waste's properties and quantity, while also working to expand channels for resource recycling and reuse.
All waste is handled by a public-private waste removal, treatment, and recycling organization approved by the competent authority, in compliance with regulations. We ensure that waste is properly disposed of and report waste removal details through the required waste disposal forms. We also track and verify the final treatment status of the waste, fully adhering to legal requirements to prevent any illegal dumping that could harm the environment.
  • Wastewater Management
The Company has established a wastewater treatment facility with a total capacity of 1,800 tons per day to treat wastewater containing heavy metals from the acid pickling process. The treated wastewater meets discharge standards before being released into the Kaohsiung Linhai Linyuan & Dafa Industrial Parks Combined Wastewater Treatment Plant, operated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The discharge volume is monitored in real-time using flow meters. From January to September 2025, the cumulative wastewater discharge amounted to 422,414 tons, with an average daily treatment and discharge of 1,547.3 tons. The discharged water quality is regularly sampled and tested according to legal requirements, with third-party testing organizations conducting the analysis. The results show a Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) of 12.0 mg/L, Suspended Solids (S.S.) of 1.8 mg/L, Total Chromium of 0.056 mg/L, Nickel content of 0.052 mg/L, and trace amounts of other heavy metals, ensuring there is no significant environmental impact on the surrounding area, nor any special habitat-related concerns.
  • Greenhouse Gas Management
The Company conducts an annual internal inventory of greenhouse gas emissions and commissions a third-party verification organization to perform external verification. In 2024, the total greenhouse gas emissions of the Company amounted to 95,444.684 metric tons of CO2e, with Scope 1 emissions at 36,080.5163 metric tons of CO2e and Scope 2 emissions at 59,364.1677 metric tons of CO2e.
Every year, the Company also plans self-directed emission reduction projects. For 2025, we have outlined eight energy-saving initiatives, including updating the preheater in the Converter Workshop, the 350HP pump, the cooling tower fan, the central air conditioning system on the first floor of the rolling mill building, the central air conditioning system of the First Administrative Building, the lighting system at the Steel Rolling Division, the lighting system of street lights and bridge cranes in entire factory, and variable frequency drive dust collector B. These initiatives are expected to save a total of 34,091 m3of natural gas and 2,455,280 kWh of electricity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 1,234.576 metric tons of CO2e.
  • Chemical Management
The Company manages hazardous chemicals through a system of registration, inspections, and regular reviews. Annually, we report the prioritized chemicals used by each department within the deadline set by the central competent authority. For designated specific chemicals, we have established emergency response teams in accordance with relevant regulations and provide annual training to the personnel involved, covering first aid, evacuation procedures, and other emergency response knowledge.
