Company Profile

Tang Eng Iron Works Co., Ltd.

Founded by Mr. Tang Eng in 1940, Tang Eng Iron Works was renamed and established as Tang Wing Iron Works Co in 1955. The company was responsible for building Iron Works, Zhongdu Brick Kiln Factory, Cement Products Factory, Taipei Machinery Factory, Foundry, and others. In 1962, the Taiwan provincial government took over the company and converted it into a provincial public institution, along with Steel Works, Alloy Steel Works, Foundry, Refractory Materials Works (i.e. Zhongdu Brick Kiln Factory), Machinery Works and Construction Works. In 1983, Stainless Steel Works was completed and started production.

In July 1999, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) took over after government simplification and refinement, and turned the company into a state-owned enterprise. On Oct. 21, 2002, the head office moved back to the Kaohsiung Chinese Building, while Steel Works, Machinery Works, Construction Department, Transportation Office and other plants were closed and dissolved, with only Stainless Steel Works remaining operational.

On July 5, 2006, the company was privatized through the release of public shares. On April 15, 2008, it completed the plan to merge the head office and Stainless Steel Works. The location of the Company was changed to No. 4, Yanhai 2nd Rd., Xiaogang Dist., Kaohsiung City.
