Tang Eng Iron Works strives for environmental protection with the goals of zero violation and 0 fine. We reasonably estimate that in the future the possible amount of fine, and decide annual efficiency KPI lower than 3 for our self-management and pollution control measures are:
The iron and steel industry emits various air pollutants during the iron and steel smelting process, such as gaseous pollutants, granular pollutants or greenhouse gases. In order to avoid the worsening of the pollution situation, in addition to complying with the requirements of environmental protection laws and regulations, Tang Eng Company has also implemented relevant measures for air pollution prevention and control.
The key points are as follows:
The wastewater treatment plant of Tang Eng Company has set up wastewater treatment facilities with a total capacity of 1,800 tons/day for the treatment of heavy metal pickling wastewater. Actual monitoring by flow meter, regular sampling and inspection of the discharge water quality according to law, shows chemical oxygen demand (COD) is 18.35mg/L, suspended solids (SS) is 8.2mg/L, hexavalent chromium is less than 0.09mg/L, nickel content is 0.034 mg/L, and the content of other heavy metals is extremely small, ensuring no significant impact on the surrounding environmental load, and no special habitat-related requirements.
2024 Water Quality Inspection Standards 2023 Water Quality Inspection Standards 2022 Water Quality Inspection Standards 2021 Water Quality Inspection Standards Quality checked for the released water, 2020To prevent contamination of for soil and ground water from leakage, all tanks are made of noninfiltration structure with overflow dikes. All tanks are regularly maintained to ensure no pollutants could infiltrate out. There have been no chemical or waste materials leakage or infiltrated records. In 2024, there are also no such accidents.
Besides all tanks are made of non-infiltration structure with overflow dikes to ensure no pollutants could infiltrate out, we also strive for coordination with government to declare and pay for the soil and groundwater pollution treatment fee to show our resolution in environmental protection. When our land is rented out, we would check the soil to make sure that it's clean and comply with regulations.
The toxic chemicals needed for our labs in the early days are no longer used, so the related usage and storage certificates are no longer needed, and there are no toxic chemicals in our facilities. In 2024, Tang Eng Iron Works doesn't have any related accidents, nor are there any infiltrated or leakages.
Tang Eng Company produces the most waste during the steelmaking process and steel rolling process, among which industrial waste, such as dust ash, furnace slag (stone) produced in the steelmaking process, inorganic waste produced by waste water treatment facilities, as well as slag and sludge generated in the annealing and pickling process are all entrusted to legal organizations for removal, treatment and reuse.
Among the main industrial wastes produced by Tang Eng Company, the steelmaking slag and the inorganic sludge generated from wastewater treatment are currently committed to reuse. Among them, the total temporary storage of steelmaking slag in 2018 peaked at about 130,000 metric tons. After the Company built its own stabilization equipment, it applied to the Ministry of Economic Affairs for a reuse permit, and worked hard to expand the disposal pipeline. As of the end of December 2024, there remains 3,564.6 metric tons. In addition, the total temporary storage of inorganic sludge peaked at 6,323.72 metric tons in December 2019. After the Company's efforts to increase the treatment pipelines and add individual case reuse treatment pipelines in 2020, the progress of inorganic sludge treatment has been accelerated. As of the end of December 2024, 33 metric tons remained.
